The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday night that they’ve signed Kenley Jansen. It’s a one-year deal worth $16 million.

Jansen, 34, is coming off a 2021 season in which he posted a 2.22 ERA, 38 saves, and 86 strikeouts in 69 innings. The long-time Dodgers closer did see his strikeouts number fall a bit and his walk rate go up slightly, but his 4.7 H/9 was his lowest in five seasons.

The three-time All-Star has 350 career regular season saves and 19 more saves in postseason play. Jansen had been in the Dodgers organization since signing as an International Free Agent back in 2004.

The defending World Series champion Braves already added right-handed reliever Collin McHugh last week to their bullpen.

Atlanta has been very active post-lockout, adding first baseman Matt Olson, outfielders Eddie Rosario and Alex Dickerson
