The Detroit Tigers acquired center fielder Cameron Maybin and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for LHP Ian Krol and LHP Gabe Speier, both teams announced on Friday.

Maybin, 28, batted .267 with a .327 on-base and .697 OPS in 141 games. He collected 18 doubles, 10 home runs, 59 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 555 plate appearances for the Braves this season.

The former first rounder was acquired from the San Diego Padres as part of the Craig Kimbrel deal just before the start of the 2015 season. He is owed $8 million for 2016 and has a $9 million club option for 2017 with a $1 million buyout.

Krol, 24, had a 5.79 ERA and 1.714 WHIP in 33 relief appearances for the Tigers this season. In 28 innings pitched he had 26 strikeouts and 17 walks.

Speier, 20, posted a 2.86 ERA and 1.182 WHIP for Class-A West Michigan. He had 36 strikeouts and 12 walks in 44 innings pitched.

This was a salary dump for the Braves who plan to go with Michael Bourn in center field next season. They are reportedly saving $6.5 million in this deal.

I know what some of you are thinking…. But move along, this is not the center fielder you are looking for.
