According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports Atlanta Braves have acquired right-handed pitchers Bronson Arroyo and highly regarded Touki Toussaint from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for infielder Philip Gosselin.

The D’Backs were motivated in dumping Arroyo and the approximate guaranteed $11 million  owed to him through 2016.

Arroyo is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and isn’t expected to pitch in the majors until August at the earliest.

Before injuring his elbow, Arroyo was a solid workhorse, making at least 32 starts in nine straight seasons. But his career ERA is a pedestrian 4.19.

However this deal is all about 19-year old Toussaint for Atlanta, who some regard as a top 100 prospect.

The 16th overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft, Toussaint currently has a 3.69 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in seven Single-A starts.

Gosselin, who’s on the DL, was just a spare utility part for the Braves who win big here and add a very high-ceiling prospect to their system. Must be nice to have that kind of money to throw around for a prospect like this.
