According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the New York Mets will activate outfielder Brandon Nimmo (bulging cervical disc) from the 60-day injured list ahead of Sunday night’s series finale versus the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park in South Philadephia.

Nimmo, 26, has been on the IL since May 21 after finally falling victim to injuries sustained during his crash into the outfield wall at Atlanta on April 14.

The Wyoming native went 18-for-60 (.300 batting average) with four doubles, three homers, 10 walks and 19 strikeouts from April 7 through the end of the month. Nimmo’s production fell off a cliff once the calendar turned to May (6-for-44, 11 walks, 12 strikeouts), and hit the IL shortly after.

Over 61 combined rehab plate appearances between High-A St. Lucie and Triple-A Syracuse, Nimmo went 10-for-49 with a homer, two doubles, 11 walks, and 10 strikeouts.

Puma noted that the Mets were not ready to activate infielder Jed Lowrie just yet, but we’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
