As per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is back with the team after hitting the disabled list with a bruised left index finger on August 17.

Nimmo, 25, is hitting .265/.387/.503 this season with 15 home runs, 39 runs batted in, and 21 doubles, and a 149 OPS+ in 110 games (344 at-bats).

The Cheyenne native went 2-for-6 in two rehab games with the Advanced-A St. Lucie Mets over the weekend and, as per DiComo, is “on the taxi squad”, meaning he is with the team but has not been activated.

According to Tim Healey of Newsday, Nimmo’s status for tonight’s game could change if either Jose Bautista, who was claimed on waivers by the Phillies this afternoon, is traded or if Kevin Plawecki begins his expected paternity leave.

Nimmo has been a revelation for the Mets this season. As per Fangraphs, he’s carrying a .383 weighted on-base percentage and a 146 weighted runs created plus rating. Both of these marks would be career-highs if sustained.
