Brandon Nimmo‘s opportunity at the major league level the past two seasons have been few and far between once the Mets traded for fellow outfielder, Jay Bruce.

Nimmo has played in only nine game for the Mets this season and all of them have come off the bench with the loaded outfield of Curtis Granderson, Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Conforto and the aforementioned Bruce.

Despite the crowded outfield, the 23-year-old Nimmo has found his niche in pinch hitting. In Wednesday’s 8-0 win over the Marlins, Nimmo struck a 1-2 forkball up the middle that knocked in two runs.

Albeit a very small sample, Nimmo is now an incredible 8 for 17 with three walks in his career as a pinch hitter.

Nimmo will likely find himself more playing time if/when the Mets decided to trade one or both of Grandy and Bruce.

Overall this year, Nimmo is 2 for 6 with four walks in the big leagues after struggling in Triple-A earlier in the season.
