Phew!

We were told that we would have a status update on Brandon Nimmo from the Mets on Thursday evening, and we have it. GM Brodie Van Wagenen stated that Nimmo has been cleared for baseball activity as all tests came back good, and that Nimmo is doing well, too.

Nimmo’s wife, Chelsea, took to Twitter earlier on Thursday to calm Mets fans down, stating that Nimmo was doing fine and that he was healthy and feeling great.

We had a bit of a scare when Brandon Nimmo was scratched from the line-up on Wednesday due to a suggestion from his cardiologist for cardiac screening. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Nimmo was undergoing tests for an irregular heartbeat which is a condition that he has known about for years.

Nimmo is not the only player scratched due to cardiac screening. The Mets scratched Matt Adams prior to Thursday’s game, who they had originally planned to play first base.

Nimmo did have an injury-plagued season in 2019, one that he (and fans) do not want to repeat in 2020. In only 69 games last season, Nimmo went .221/.375/.407 including eight home runs and 29 RBIs. Hopefully, he continues to be healthy and all of those numbers, including games played, goes up this season.
