After tonight’s 6-1 loss to the Astros, Mets manager Terry Collins told reporters that he met with setup man Bobby Parnell in the trainers room, where he was being examined after feeling some discomfort.
Collins said he was concerned because he hasn’t seen Parnell throwing his upper nineties fastball and is worried that there may be a problem.
Parnell later said that he’s been having a hard time gripping the baseball with his middle finder for more than a week, and decided that it was time for him to get it looked at. He described it as numbness and while he didn’t believe it was serious, he admitted that he is not 100 percent.
It looks like there’s a good chance that Parnell could be heading to the DL. We’ll know more tomorrow morning.
There’s a chance that Jason Bay could be activated on Wednesday, in which case they would probably hang onto Ryota Igarashi and DL Bobby Parnell instead.

Bay had a great night for St. Lucie going 4-4 and driving in four runs with a pair of two-run homers. I hope he can give the team the jolt it so desperately needs.
