The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Thursday that they’ve signed veteran left-hander Jaime Garcia. It’s a one-year deal worth $8 million. The deal includes an option for 2019 at $10 million with a $2 million buy-out.

Garcia, 31, went 5-10 with a 4.41 ERA, 1.141 WHIP and 2.02 SO/W in 157 innings last season between the Yankees, Twins and Braves.

In nine seasons in the big leagues, Garcia has gone 67-55 with a 3.69 ERA, 3.66 FIP, 1.30 WHIP and 2.62 SO/W. His best season came in 2015 with the Cardinals when he had 3.9 WAR despite only 20 starts.

The Mets had shown interest in Garcia as they look to adding starting pitching depth. Fellow lefty Jason Vargas continues to be a target for the Mets. Earlier on Thursday, the Baltimore Orioles signed starter Andrew Cashner.
