Travis d'Arnaud, Terry Collins, Sean Barber, Jerry Blevins

Left-handed relief pitcher  Jerry Blevins re-fractured his injured left forearm and will undergo surgery and likely miss the rest of the season, the team announced on Thursday.

Reportedly, Blevins slipped off a curb and re-fractured the distal radial bone. His surgery is scheduled for next week in Boston.

He was recently cleared to throw last week after missing nearly 3 months with his fractured forearm which was sustained after he was hit by a comebacker to the mound.

The team was counting on Blevins and just released Alex Torres on Wednesday night after they had acquired A’s reliever Eric O’Flaherty.

With Jack Leathersich out with Tommy John surgery, Josh Smoker who we wrote about this morning, is quickly becoming a candidate for promotion should the Mets need any left-handed relief help down the road.
