Tim Healey of Newsday is reporting that the Mets have recalled relievers Buddy Baumann and Jacob Rhame, have placed Jerry Blevins on the paternity list and optioned Corey Oswalt in corresponding moves.

Baumann’s promotion likely serves a more temporary purpose, as the Mets will need a left-handed reliever to fill in as Blevins awaits the birth of his first child.

Baumann, 30, has allowed one run on two hits and two walks in 4.2 innings with Triple-A Las Vegas, but has held left-handed hitters to a measly .577 OPS in 29 big-league appearances.

Rhame will look to improve on what has been an inconsistent few stints in the majors this year, marked by a 7.36 ERA and 9.96 FIP.

His 4.76 ERA and 3.75 K/BB ratio in Vegas has been a slight improvement, and his time may be more flexible, as Oswalt is likely headed to Vegas in order to stretch out as a starter.

They will both be available for tonight’s 7:10 p.m. contest at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.
