bartolo colon

Mets pitcher, and fan-favorite Bartolo Colon has done the impossible by hitting his first major league home run tonight in Petco Park. It was a no-doubt, two-run shot to left field in the second inning of Saturday night’s game against the San Diego Padres’ James Shields.

Colon, 43 later this month, has made leaps and bounds at the plate since signing with the Mets before the 2014 season, and has finally silenced all of the naysayer’s.

It was a moment that will go down in Mets baseball history, and the call by Gary Cohen made it all the better. The Mets broadcaster is absolutely speechless. What a feel good moment for the team and fans alike, and an awesome homer from the big guy.

And some people want the DH in the National League…
