After months of rumors of A-Rod’s interest, Scott Sosnick from Variety has disclosed that the London based Reuben Brothers are now interested in putting their hat in the ring.

The two brothers David and Simon, are originally from India and started out in the metal industry. They have been said to be a team that should not be underestimated.

After opening up an office in Russia in the 1990s, they had many issues with their Russian business partners, who were said to be involved with the Russian Mafia and handled their dispute with both strength and grace, leading them to break away from that endeavor.

They have more recently amassed their wealth through investing in real estate, technology, among many other industries. They are now known to be the second wealthiest family in the UK. Their current net worth is said to be upwards of 14 billion dollars.

According to an “anonymous source”, The brother’s reasoning behind their interest is most likely because of the “real estate development possibilities around Citi Field.”

The brothers are known to be very smart with their ventures, as this isn’t their first exploration into the sports world as they have previously shown interest in buying English Premier League team Newcastle United

In the past few months reports of new possible bidders have been coming out more and more frequently which is a very good sign for Mets fans who would rather almost anyone other than the Wilpons who are notorious for being overly frugal with their responsibilities of managing the franchise.

Now with the interest of Josh Harris who owns multiple sports franchises including the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Devils, and reports of Vinnie Viola and billionaire Mike Repole backing Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, the possibility of having new owners is getting greater every day.

The franchise has been losing about 50 million dollars annually before coronavirus, now with the depletion in sales from the delayed season, many teams are in hot water, which could be a blessing in disguise as the Wilpons may just want to cut their losses.
