The results are in. The great people behind The Fielding Bible, have tallied all their votes and their panel of 10 experts have ranked Ike Davis as the third-best defensive first baseman in baseball, and Angel Pagan was ranked as the fifth-best defensive center fielder.

The top choices were as follows and you can read more about the process as well as their insights and comments for the winners and runner-ups on their site.

  • First Base – Daric Barton, Oakland
  • Second Base – Chase Utley, Philadelphia
  • Third Base – Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay
  • Shortstop – Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado
  • Left Field – Brett Gardner, New York Yankees
  • Center Field – Michael Bourn, Houston
  • Right Field – Ichiro Suzuki, Seattle
  • Catcher – Yadier Molina, St. Louis
  • Pitcher – Mark Buehrle, Chicago White Sox

No surprises really, except for maybe Daric Barton and Brett Gardner who I knew were good, but not that good. It’s nice to see Longoria make the list whose offense really overshadows his great and underrated defense. Ichiro and Yadier just keep on ticking, nobody can touch them.
