Recap

R.A. Dickey continues to roll with the punches as he got tagged for nine hits but only allowed one batter to touch home. The knuckleballer mixed in his fastball nicely today and his knuckler was on que today with only one mistake of homerun against Chase Utley’s no name replacement. He pitched for seven innings, allowing just one run on nine hits and one walk. Dickey continues to throw strikes reaching seven K’s in the game tonight. He continues to pitch well, even outpitching a former Cy Young, Cliff Lee, and walking away with the win.

Bobby Parnell again proves his worthiness in the bullpen with a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit and striking out one. Francisco pitched the ninth in a non-save situation and struck out three to end the game. Bullpen continues to dominate!

Tejada, Murphy, Thole and Niewenhuis continue to hit well with a hit each and an RBI from Murphy.

Jason Bay had the biggest hit of the game with a two-run homer early in the game. And no folks, that is not a typo, Bay hit a homerun!

Scott Hairston continues to be a factor off the bench with a solo shot himself.

Just Turner had his first start ever batting third and went 0-4 with two strikeouts and reached on an error.

Ike Davis continues to struggle at the plate going 0-3 with a walk. His average is a measly .043. Yikes! But it’s only April.

Notes

Wright continues to ride the bench with a fractured pinkie.

Zack Wheeler went six innings, five hits, one run, no walks and nine Ks in Binghamton’s 4-3 loss.

Fifth straight game with Mets pitchers striking out 10 or more batters. Second longest streak in the team’s history.

Murphy had an error in the bottom of the ninth where he let the ball go between the legs that could have ended the game. But Murphy’s poor defense is no new news to Mets fans.

Heroes of the Game

Jason Bay and Scott Hairston tag one of the better pitchers in the game, Cliff Lee, with homeruns.
