There were quite a few Mets players who graduated from prospect status in 2017, including Amed Rosario, Dominic Smith and Brandon Nimmo.

Additionally, the Mets have graduated players such as Michael Conforto, Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz and traded away Michael Fulmer in exchange for Yoenis Cespedes. This has left the farm lacking in blue chip prospects.

However, there are still a few appealing names in the minors. Baseball America Wednesday released their Top 10 in the Mets system going into 2018.

  1. Andres Gimenez, SS
  2. David Peterson, LHP
  3. Justin Dunn, RHP
  4. Peter Alonso, 1B
  5. Thomas Szapucki,  LHP
  6. Mark Vientos, SS/3B
  7. Marcos Molina, RHP
  8. Desmond Lindsay, OF
  9. Chris Flexen, RHP
  10. Luis Guillorme, 2B/SS

Gimenez leads the list and rightfully so. He had a respectable year at the dish and an even better year in the field. The 19-year-old likely won’t be in Queens in the immediate future, but if he continues maturing through the Mets system he will be a solid infielder for the Mets sooner rather than later.
