bartolo colon

At the ripe age of 43, Bartolo Colon continues to defy logic. Colon continues to put forth quality starts and has kept his team in almost every game this season.

Only one start this season has seen Big Sexy give up more than three runs in a game. That start came against the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 12th, when he allowed five runs in what was a rough start for Colon. Last night though Colon pitched quite well against that same team who beat up on him, providing six quality innings as he was faced with the daunting task of opposing Clayton Kershaw.

Colon gave his team a chance against arguably the best pitcher in the game, allowing just two runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out three while taking the no-decision. Colon’s record on the year stands at 4-3 with an ERA of 3.39. His 2016 WHIP is currently at 1.23, below his career average of 1.30.

Over his last two starts, Colon has an ERA of 2.08, allowing just three earned runs in 13 innings. He now has a 2.73 ERA in five starts at Citi Field this season.
