The Sky Could Be Falling

Someone should have told the Mets they didn’t have this Sunday off. They sure did play as if today was not a regularly scheduled game. Again, we faced a rookie, and again he (Zimmermann) made us look very bad. Incidentally, our third Sunday in a row has been spoiled. I’ll confess that I stopped watching the game after Carlos—who-needs-to-slide—Beltran GIDP in the 8th. The rest of you can fill me...

4/26 Minor League Report!

Buffalo 0, Syracuse 4 It was Dillon Gee’s turn to get shellacked today, as the Bisons lost yet again, their 14th loss in 16 games. Gee gave up 4 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings, taking his 3rd loss. 4/25 Minor League Report! Fernandez!

Buffalo 5, Syracuse 6 Another game, another loss, another very rough outing for Jon Niese. Kyle Snyder took the loss, allowing 2 runs in 2.1 innings. Offensively, every regular except Jason Cooper (0 for 3, K, .214) had a hit, with Jon...

Lets Not Celebrate Too Much!

It’s great to have a victory, break a slump, and give Santana a win he deserves but, the Mets still have a huge problem with RISP and everyone knows it. In yesterday’s game the Mets left 13 on base and (get ready, I hope you’re sitting) where 1 for 18 with runners in scoring position. I can’t tell you an easy fix but if I had one, I think even Jerry would probably hear me...

Jo-han, Jo-han, A Pitcher’s Life For Me

Amazing. There is no better word to describe Johan Santana. Talk about a stopper – he’s the only guy in the Mets rotation who can win!  (And have a different handshake for every teammate!)  Now I have been following baseball since 1990, and I’ll admit I have never been a fan of pitching. Never gave it any thought; it was just part of the game. No favorite player of mine has...
