Per Will Sammon of the Athletic, Austin Warren was placed on the injured list with an undisclosed injury and will undergo imaging. The Mets already triggered his option for 2026 as he spent more than twenty days in the minor leagues so the injury is serious enough that they felt the need to pace him on the injured list instead of working through things in Syracuse.

Warren is coming off back to back rough appearances where he gave up nine runs in two innings. Before that he had a 2.45 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 33 innings pitched.

The Mets have not announced a corresponding move. On the 40-man roster the Mets have Daniel Duarte, Joey Gerber, Tobias Myers, Jonathan Pintaro, Dylan Ross, Zach Thornton, Jonah Tong and Jefry Yan.

When a pitcher is optioned they must spend at least fifteen days in the minors before they can come back up unless they are replacing an injured player. Jefry Yan, Tobias Myers, Joey Gerber, Daniel Duarte and Zach Thornton are all within that window so the Mets may choose to call one of them up.

Marcus Semien revealed he started feeling his hip pain in early May but it came and went. By the time he went on the injured list in June it was too much to play through. He believes the injury came from overcompensating from his previous foot injury.

Jorge Polanco who just returned will start playing primarily as the designated hitter, but the Mets hope he will be able to play the field by the end of the season. For the time being he will get regular rest and not play every day.
