Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Athletics would have interest in acquiring Jed Lowrie from the New York Mets if the team is willing to pay a large portion of the $10 million salary he will have in 2020.

“That is a deal that absolutely makes sense to me,” an executive told Slusser. “I know the Mets are in salary dump mode, though, so I don’t know how much Oakland would have to take on, but Jed always seems to be a great fit there.”

Lowrie, 35, has had two stints with the A’s already and spent parts of five seasons total with them. His best season came in 2018 when he had a 5.0 fWAR for the team, which is what prompted the Mets to give him a two-year, $20 million contract that offseason.

Unfortunately, Lowrie’s first season with the Mets consisted of seven plate appearances in September as the infielder dealt with a multitude of injuries throughout the season.
