The team has announced that outfielder Andrew Brown is heading to Chicago on Wednesday to join the Mets in anticipation of being officially activated on Thursday.

Brown, 29, was hitting .350 with 13 home runs in 35 games for Triple-A Las Vegas since being demoted back on April 21.

A righthanded bat, Brown initially made the big league team out of Spring Training, but was hitting .185 with one home run and five RBIs at the time of the demotion.

The move will restore the Mets bench back to five players after operating a man short since Sunday.

It’s expected that either left-hander Dana Eveland or right-hander Buddy Carlyle will be optioned back to Las Vegas when the Mets activate Brown.
