MLB Pipeline released their 2018 Prospect Team of the Year today with the New York Mets being the only organization with two players selected to the first team.

Mets prospect Peter Alonso was chosen to be MLB’s first baseman and Mets infielder (lost his prospect status recently) Jeff McNeil was taken as the second baseman.

Alonso, 23, hit .285/.395/.579 with 36 homers (tied for most in minors) and minor league leading 119 RBI in 574 plate appearances between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Mets have already told Alonso they don’t plan to call him up this season and he will instead participate in a minor league camp in New York.

McNeil’s 1.028 OPS in the minors this season ranked second behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 26-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in the minors before making his major league debut on July 24.

In 150 plate appearances, McNeil has slashed .321/.385/.463 for the Mets and has posted a 1.4 bWAR.
