After his first inning solo home run on Monday to put the Mets up 1-0, Pete Alonso has now broken a single-season franchise record by reaching base in 34 consecutive games.
Alonso’s home run was his 46th, breaking a tie with Mike Trout for the Major League lead. The homer pushed Alonso’s batting line up to .270/.369/.595, to go along with a 148 wRC+.
Not including Monday’s home run, Alonso has hit .308/.391/.609 over his record-breaking streak, showing some consistency after struggling right out of the gate in the second half.
This is just another one of the many impressive feats the rookie has accomplished in his historic season, as he’s all but a lock at this point to acclaim the Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the year.
He continues to lead this Mets offense as they head into the middle of September hanging on by a thread in the Wild Card race.
