The search for a new manager in Boston is over. The Red Sox officially announced Sunday afternoon on Twitter that they signed Alex Cora to a three-year deal to manage the team.
The deal includes an option for 2021. Cora will become the 47th manager in Red Sox history.
Neither the Houston Astros nor the Red Sox will comment further until after the World Series is over.

You can cross another name off the short list of potential Mets managers.
In a move that doesn’t come as much of a surprise, Alex Cora will reportedly be announced as the next manager of the Boston Red Sox after the Houston Astros season is over, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Atlantic.
After Cora interviewed with Boston’s president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski last Sunday, a source told Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Dia there is a 99.9 percent chance Cora will be the next manager of the Red Sox.
“They want him for the job. That post is for him,” the source said. “Alex is very beloved there. And he would love to run Boston. They want to make the fast decision.”
The former Mets infielder is currently the bench coach for the Astros, having held the position for one year.
The 42-year-old played for New York in 2009 and 2010, after having won a championship with Boston in 2007.
While this has long been expected, the next manager of the Mets will ultimately be either Kevin Long or Manny Acta at this point.
