alejandro de aza 2

Do not look now, but Alejandro De Aza has actually had a productive July. The embattled fifth outfielder has had a rough season but has shown some signs of life as of late.

In the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader, De Aza was 1-for-2 with a double, walk and two runs scored. He helped provide some spark in a very important game for the New York Mets as they defeated the Cardinals by a score of 3-1 in the second game.

De Aza is now batting to a .318/.483/.500 slash line in the month of July. He may not be hitting for power, but has picked up six walks while helping to produce five runs. He has shown the ability to play a capable field when given the opportunity as well.

He may not be anything of what we expected, but if he continues to play the way he has as of late he could be useful down the stretch to keep others fresh.
