The Tigers will look for some home cooking against the Orioles this afternoon. After losing with their current and former ace’s (Scherzer and Verlander), they will send the ace that they traded for at the deadline to the hill in the form of David Price with the series on the line. Price will be making his fifth career postseason start. His counterpart, Bud Norris, will be making his postseason debut.

“Big Game” James Shields returns to the hill for the first time in this division series. His performance in the Wild Card round helped to propel the Royals past the A’s and now he gets to go to the hill to take down the American League’s #1 seed. Neither he or C.J. Wilson have faired particularly well in the playoffs. Wilson carries a 4.82 ERA while Shields has an astronomic 7.20 postseason ERA.
