According to Kristie Ackert of the Daily News on Twitter, Mets GM Sandy Alderson stated that the Mets will have the money to make roster moves during the season, even if they don’t trade Alejandro De Aza, which doesn’t seem likely at this point.

The Mets current payroll is roughly $127 million, the highest it has been since the days of Omar Minaya.

On Opening Day last season, the Mets payroll was $101 million, and crept up to $110 million by the end of the season.

After releasing Ruben Tejada earlier today, the Mets are now only responsible for $500,000 of his $3 million contract.

This is good to hear. There was no doubt in my mind that the Mets had the resources to acquire talent throughout the season should the need arise, but hearing Alderson say it just reinforces how I felt.

It’s going to be an exciting season, Mets fans!
