New York Mets GM Sandy Alderson talked to the media before the team started their second half against the Colorado Rockies Friday Night.

One key note from Alderson, “This is not teardown situation. We’re not looking to rebuild.”

His answer was in regards to questions about the availability of the Mets best healthy pitcher in Jacob deGrom.

There have been rumors that the Houston Astros are seeking a top of the rotation starter and would have serious interest in acquiring deGrom.

Alderson says it’s unlikely the Mets trade players with multiple years of control past this season like deGrom who doesn’t become a free agent until 2021.

Sandy also noted that the Mets would consider trades with their crosstown rival New York Yankees. The Yankees need help at first base and in the bullpen.
