Sandy Alderson said David Wright rode a stationary bike on Monday and is now on track to return when his 15-day DL stint is up, reports Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

Wright is eligible to return and be activated on April 30, when the Mets open a four-game series against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.

The Mets placed David Wright on the DL after he pulled his right hamstring in last Tuesday’s game. Fours days later, Mets manager Terry Collins said Wright is slowly getting back to baseball activities. (ESPN)

“He’s coming along great,” Collins said Sunday morning. “He’s going to do some activity today. … He’s going to hopefully get in the weight room and do some stuff.”

The hope is that Wright will only miss the minimum of 15 days, but GM Sandy Alderson believes three weeks is a more realistic timetable.

Despite not being able to play, Wright has remained with the team.

“He’s been great,” Collins said. “He’s been on the bench. He’s in the video room. He’s talking to the guys. He’s rooting for them. He’s high-fiving them. He’s been outstanding.”

On a day when the Mets lost Jerry Blevins and Travis d’Arnaud to injuries, hearing about Wright slowly getting back into baseball shape is certainly some good news for the Mets.

Barring any setbacks, Wright should be ready to rejoin the team and take the field in early May.
