Right-hander Chris Schwinden officially has been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo to make room for Vinny Rottino is back with the Mets.

Manny Acosta has more lives than a cat…

According to Adam Rubin, a baseball source says that the Mets are expected to re-call utility player Vinny Rottino ifrom Triple-A Buffalo and that he will rejoin the Mets in time for tonight’s game in Pittsburgh.

Rottino is having a fine season in Buffalo batting 307/.361/.469 in 140 at-bats. He is second on the team with 25 RBI and has ten doubles, four home runs and five stolen bases.

The Mets have been playing with a 4-man bench and it is expected they will cut a pitcher to make room for Rottino. My guess is that Manny Acosta could be released and that the Mets will keep Chris Schwinden to see if he could be a fit as a long-man type in the bullpen.
