According to Mark Hale of the New York Post the Mets plan to promote right-handed reliever David Aardsma from Triple-A Las Vegas in time for this afternoon’s game against the Marlins.

The 31-year-old Aardsma appeared in eight games for Las Vegas, posting a 1.12 ERA with three saves and allowing only three hits in eight innings while striking out 11 and walking seven.

Aardsma missed the 2011 campaign due to Tommy John surgery and has only made one major league appearance with the Yankees since September 19, 2010. He has bounced around between five organizations and once had 69 saves for the Mariners during the 2009-2010 seasons.

It’s likely that Collin McHugh will be optioned to make room for him.
