mets win Cespedes walker Cabrera

With Saturday’s 10-8 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Mets entered into a virtual dead heat with the Giants and Cardinals in the NL Wild Card race.

Both the Giants and Cards won their respective games on Saturday. The Mets and Giants now hold a half game lead over the Cardinals for the two Wild Card spots. The Mets own the tie-breaker over San Francisco, currently giving them the top spot.

The Mets and Giants have just seven games left, while the Cardinals have eight. It is sure to be a wild last week of the season with three teams fighting for two spots.

After Sunday’s Citi Field regular season finale against the Phillies, the Mets will find themselves in Miami taking on Jose Fernandez and the Marlins for a three-game set. The team will then have an off day on Thursday before traveling to Philadelphia to close out the regular season.

The Giants will finish up their series with the Padres on Sunday and will have their final off day of the season on Monday. San Francisco then will return home to close out their season against Colorado and Los Angeles.

St. Louis finishes up their series with the Cubs Sunday night on ESPN, they will then travel home to take on the Cincinnati Reds in a four-game series. The Cards finish up their season against the Pittsburgh Pirates, with no remaining off days.

It is all set up for a “wild” end to the season. Hopefully at this time next week we will all be discussing the Mets’ return to the postseason.
