Good morning, Mets fans! Happy 20th anniversary to the Endy Chávez catch.

Drew Rasmussen tossed seven innings of one run ball to help the Rays to a 3-1 victory over the Guardians Sunday in Game 5 of the ALCS in Cleveland. Tampa Bay leads the series 3 games to 2 and can advance to its first World Series since 2020 with a win Monday. Game 6 in Tampa is at 8 p.m. ET on TBS/truTV.

Cleveland, trying to get back to the World Series for the first time since 2016, has never won an ALCS when trailing 3-2. The Guardians did battle back from an 0-2 series hole this year, winning three straight to knock out the White Sox in the ALDS.

Freddy Peralta, who has allowed one earned run in 11 1/3 playoff innings, will start for Tampa Bay. The Guardian starter is TBD.

The World Series starts Friday in Milwaukee. An interesting note if the Rays advance: Rasmussen was drafted by the Brewers in 2018 and debuted for them in 2020, but was traded to the Rays in May 2021 in a deal that sent Willy Adames to Milwaukee.

2006: Yadier Molina broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer off Aaron Heilman in the ninth and Carlos Beltrán struck out with the bases loaded to end Game 7 of the NLCS. Chávez turned a potential home run into a double play. A thought: Why didn’t Billy Wagner start the ninth of a tie game at home?

1999: The Mets rallied from 5-0 and 7-2 deficits to take an 8-7 lead in the eighth inning of Game 6 of the NLCS vs. the Braves. New York had also rallied from being down 3 games to none to force this Game 6 in Atlanta. The Braves tied it with a run off John Franco in the eighth. The teams exchanged runs in the 10th and Kenny Rogers, the eighth Met to pitch in the game, walked Andruw Jones with the bases loaded in the 11th to end the Mets season. Five of the six games in the series were decided by one run.

Dwight Gooden vs. Roger Clemens in Game 2 of the World Series was expected to be a pitcher’s duel. It was not. Gooden allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits over five innings and Clemens gave up three earned runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings. The Red Sox won 9-3 in front of 55,063 stunned souls at Shea Stadium to take a 2-0 series lead. The next game played at Shea would be something.
