Mets first base prospect (No. 13 prospect) Cole Mathis hit a game-tying solo homer in the eighth inning on Sunday during the Surprise Saguaros’ 5-4 win over the Glendale Desert Dogs. (Box score)
Mathis, whom the Mets acquired in June from the Cubs for David Peterson, went 1-for-4 and is 2-for-15 in four AFL games. The homer was his first since joining the organization. The 2024 second-round pick from the College of Charleston hit 10 homers combined at the Cubs’ High-A and Low-A levels this year.

Boston Baro, 22, whom the Mets drafted out of a Mission Viejo, Calif., high school in the eighth round in 2023, went 0-for-2 with two walks. The third baseman is 1-for-10 with an RBI in four games.
Bruin Agbayani (No. 28 prospect) played second base and went 0-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and a strikeout. He is 1-for-16 with a double in five games. He came to the Mets with infielder Billy Amick when A.J. Minter was dealt to the Twins.
