The Mets fell 3-1 to the Rangers on Thursday, with Kumar Rocker holding New York to one run over five innings against the team that drafted but never signed him. Carson Benge drove in Francisco Lindor for the Mets’ only run, while Josh Jung’s two-run homer gave Texas the lead. Zac Thornton capped his strong rookie season by allowing two runs over five innings with four strikeouts.

Pete Crow-Armstrong made history Thursday, becoming the seventh player in MLB history to join the 40/40 club. As reported by Jesse Rogers of ESPN, Crow-Armstrong stole his 40th base of the season in the first inning against the Marlins, giving him 45 home runs and 40 stolen bases.
The Cleveland Guardians clinched a postseason berth for the third consecutive season, while the Milwaukee Brewers recorded the first 100-win season in franchise history, according to MLB.
The Chicago White Sox completed a remarkable turnaround by clinching a postseason berth just one year after finishing with only 60 wins in 2025. On Thursday, both Chicago teams made history by securing their playoff spots just two minutes apart.
This is the fourth time in MLB history that both the Cubs and White Sox will participate in the playoffs together. The White Sox became the first team to reach the postseason after two consecutive 100-loss seasons, coinciding with the Cubs’ second straight playoff qualification.
Previously, both teams made the playoffs together in 1906, 2008 and 2020, with the 1906 season featuring the only Windy City World Series, which the White Sox won.
The Kansas City Monarchs of the American Association swept the Milwaukee Milkmen in the 2026 Miles Wolff Cup final, claiming their fifth league title. Former Met J.D. Davis played third base for the Monarchs and contributed a go-ahead RBI single during the series finale.
