Syracuse’s late-season push for a playoff berth has unfortunately ended. After winning their last five straight to keep their season alive, an extra-innings heartbreaker sealed their fate. They finished the season 1.5 games out of the first-place seed in the International League.

Syracuse had seven hits and five walks, but went 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position. D’Andre Smith closed the season strong, figuring out his offensive game with plus defense in the outfield. Ryan Clifford did not play. Jefferson Rojas had a rare down day since he came to Triple-A, striking out twice in six at-bats.

Dylan Ross had a rough start to the season, but spent July, August, and September posting an ERA below four each month. Brian Metoyer had a forgettable September, walking eight batters in seven innings, allowing six runs while only allowing a .167 batting average. While Metoyer put himself on the Mets prospect radar, he seemed to have tired in September, throwing the most innings of his career this season.
Syracuse was eliminated when Rochester beat Buffalo, 15-8. Rochester hit eight home runs.
