Morning Briefing: Mets Retire Carlos Beltrán's Number

Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets on Saturday officially retired Carlos Beltrán’s No. 15 and enshrined him into the Mets Hall of Fame at Citi Field. Howie Rose, set to retire at the end of this season was the voice behind the ceremonies. “I will always be proud to say I was, and I always will be, a New York Met,” Beltrán said as he closed out his speech.

Beltrán’s former teammates José Valentin, Endy Chávez, and Jose Réyes were all in attendance at Citi Field for his number retirement (per SNY).

The Mets on Saturday defeated the Phillies 10-3. The two teams close out their series on Sunday with a 1:10 p.m. series finale. It will be left-handed pitcher Cristopher Sanchez on the hill for Philadelphia against Mets righty Jonah Tong.
