Good morning, Mets fans!
On Monday, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies announced that LHP Jonathan Santucci was named to the Eastern League All-Star team.
This year, the Mets’ No. 2 ranked prospect had a very good season in Double-A before being promoted, posting a 3.57 ERA with 120 strikeouts over 90 2/3 innings pitched. Despite a rocky start to his Triple-A career following a promotion, Santucci finished the year strong, posting a 3.52 ERA in September.
Santucci is now one of many bright spots in the Mets’ farm system post-trade deadline, and the best could be yet to come for the club’s top pitching prospect.

After an off day on Monday, the Mets are headed to Arlington for a three-game series with the Rangers. Sean Manaea will take the mound for his second-to-last start of the season, looking to finish a difficult second half in strong fashion. Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that Chicago Cubs star Alex Bregman suffered multiple facial fractures after being struck by a foul ball while standing in the on-deck circle Sunday. Bregman will not undergo surgery and is hopeful to return in the postseason.
The Tigers announced a flurry of moves, including recalling RHP River Ryan and INF Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo. They also placed Troy Melton has been placed on the 15-day injured list and INF Colt Keith has been placed on the 10-day injured list.

1962: During a 4-3 win against the Chicago Cubs at the Polo Grounds, a young Ed Kranepool hit an opposite-field double. It marked the very first hit of his eventual franchise-record 1,418 career hits with the Mets. Frank Thomas sealed the game with a walk-off single in the ninth.
2016: Jose Reyes tied the game with a two-run homer in the 9th inning, setting the stage for Asdrúbal Cabrera, who launched an unforgettable three-run walk-off home run in the 11th to beat the Phillies 9-8.
On This Date in 1986 Mets
Having already clinched the National League East division title five days earlier on Sept. 17, the Mets used the game to keep fine-tuning for the postseason, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2. Dwight Gooden was spectacular, pitching a complete game, allowing just one run and picking up the win. Darryl Strawberry and Wally Backman added home runs as the Mets picked up their 98th win.
