MJ Melendez is doing his part to keep Triple-A Syracuse’s playoff hopes alive. He homered twice for the second game in a row Saturday night in a 9-7 win over St. Paul that kept the Mets 1 1/2 games out of a playoff spot with seven games left. Melendez is 16-for-38 (.421 batting average) in September with five homers, four doubles and 11 RBIs.
Rochester is in first place in the second-half standings, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Indianapolis are tied for second at one game back and Syracuse is in fourth. The Mets have won three in a row and seven of 10. The regular season ends on September 20. The second-half champ will meet first-half winner Memphis in the playoffs.

Amick’s homer was his seventh in 18 games at Triple-A and 37th overall in 116 games. He hit 23 homers for Double-A Wichita, came to the Mets’ organization with infielder Bruin Agbayani in a trade with the Twins for A.J. Minter, and then hit seven homers for Double-A Binghamton before he was promoted.

Vargas extended his hitting streak to nine games. Voit was caught stealing for the second time at Binghamton. He has stolen 45 in 55 attempts overall between Binghamton and High-A Brooklyn this year. Binghamton was held to four hits.

The 6-foot-9 Davis has struck out 24 and walked 11 in the 21 1/3 innings he has pitched for Binghamton since being acquired from the White Sox in the Huascar Brazobán trade. Chicago took him in the fifth round of the 2025 draft out of Oklahoma State, where he was teammates with Nolan McLean and Carson Benge in 2023.
Conley, 32, recorded his 600th strikeout in affiliated baseball. The Athletics selected him in the 22nd round of the 2017 draft out of Georgia State University.
The Rumble Ponies’ season ends Sunday.
