The Binghamton Runble Ponies were right back at it again, scoring 14 runs. The team was led by Mitch Voit (reached base four times), Jefferson Rojas (reached base three times), and Jacob Reimer (reached base four times).

Meanwhile, Aiden Robbins had his best professional game, going 3-for-4 and launching his first pro home run.

The top of Syracuse’s lineup carried them to victory. Melendez launched the go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. Additionally, Morel has been a fantastic performer for Syracuse. He homered again on Saturday, his 12th since joining the organization on July 1. He has a staggering 1.098 OPS with the team.

Mauricio crushed his 14th Triple-A homer of the season. He has struggled in August though, posting a .222 average and .709 OPS.

Franklin, acquired from the White Sox in the Huascar Brazobán trade, posted a scoreless outing. He has 65 strikeouts across 51 1/3 innings this season.

Devenski made his second appearance since signing a minor-league contract with the organization. He did not allow a run in each.

The Binghamton offense continues to roll. Four Rumble Ponies had multiple hits. Leading the way was Voit, who reached base four times, Reimer, who reached base four times, and Jefferson, who reached base three times and drove in two runs.

Voit now has a 1.270 OPS since being promoted from Brooklyn. Rojas, a top-100 prospect in baseball, has his Double-A OPS raised to .811. Lastly, Reimer has been in a groove since returning from injury as he has raised his OPS by 20 points over the last week-and-a-half.

Davis, listed at 6-foot-9, made his second start with the orgination and only lasted 3 1/3 innings. An error and control issues forced an elevated pitch count and he was removed after 65 pitches. He did only allow a single hit, no runs, and struck out four.

The trio of Armbruester, Guzman, and Jenkins all impressed lowering their respective, sparkling Double-A ERAs.

High-A

The lone Brooklyn run came in the eighth inning when Meggers reached on a fielder’s choice and scored Baylor.

Smith was the lone Cyclones with multiple hits. He is hitting .382 with an 1.230 OPS since joining the orgination.

Chirinos was excellent and instrumental in Brooklyn shutting out Jersey Shore. His 6 2/3 inning scoreless outing lowered his High-A ERA to 4.10. He had a 2.36 figure over 42 innings with St. Lucie prior to his promotion.

Menawhile, Ziegler, who continues to work following injury woes, posted another scoreless outing. He has not allowed a hit nor a run over his last three outings.

Single-A

Jupiter Hammerheads 3 (57-55), St. Lucie Mets 1 (50-62)

Robbins, drafted in the third round this season, had his best game as a professional. He homered, the first in his professional career, and went 3-for-4. As a result, he has his average up to .325 with an .838 OPS.

  • RHP Austin Brown: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 SO (0.00 ERA)

After Lara, 19, faltered, Brown threw 2 2/3 superb innings. The 21-year-old has yet to allow a run over 10 professional innings. He has 15 strikeouts.

Dominican Summer League

La Rosa led the Mets Blue offense with a homer and three runs driven in. The 17-year-old has an .882 OPS through his first 67 career at-bats.

Torres and Maykol Vasquez combined to allow 11 runs, 10 earned.

DSL Nationals 2 (14-38), DSL Mets Orange 1 (29-25) / Final 8

Box Score 

The Mets Orange offense was limited to just a single hit by Johnderis Sanchez. They scored their only run via a groundout.

Ozuna kept the Mets in the game, throwing five terrific innings. The 19-year-old has been superb this season with a 2.00 ERA across 18 innings. Throughout his two-season career he’s got a 2.60 ERA across 45 innings of work in the DSL.
