The Mets selected left-handed pitcher Shane Sdao with their fourth-round draft pick in the 2026 draft.
Sdao is a native of Montgomery, Texas, and pitched for Texas A&M from 2023-2026. The lefty pitched to a 7.03 ERA in 2026, but struck out 83 batters in 71 1/3 innings.

The former Aggie has a strong two-pitch arsenal. His fastball sits in the 92-94 range, but has touched 97 miles per hour. Sdao pairs his fastball with a low-80s slider, which is his go-to offspeed pitch for punchouts.
Despite having high strikeout numbers, Sdao has great feel for the zone. The lefty walked only 21 batters in 71 1/3 innings. His one difficulty was limiting the long ball. Sdao allowed 16 homers last season.
Sdao, while a strong prospect, comes with an injury history and risk. The lefty missed the entire 2025 season due to Tommy John surgery, leading to him falling in the MLB Draft. He finished his career at Texas A&M with a 13-6 record, striking out 184 batters in 163.2 innings.
Sdao was the 91st-ranked prospect according to Baseball America, but fell to the Mets at pick 120. Scouts and evaluators believe Sdao has another gear that hasn’t been unlocked with his fastball due to the injuries he sustained in college.
The lefty was the second pitcher selected by Kris Gross and the Mets today. New York drafted righty Carson Wiggins earlier with pick No. 27.
