A.J. Ewing connected for three hits, including his second homer, to raise his slash line to .267/.339/.381 as the last-place Mets took two of three from the first-place Braves with an 8-1 victory Sunday in front of 40,106 at Citi Field.
Carson Benge, Bo Bichette, Juan Soto and Brett Baty each had two hits and Freddy Peralta (5-5) allowed one run on four hits over five innings to lower his ERA to 3.90. Johnluke Chaparro had more in a game recap here.
The Mets (32-39) finished their six-game homestand at 3-3 and start a six-game road trip in Cincinnati on Monday with Tobias Myers (0-1, 4.05 ERA) facing RHP Chase Burns (7-1, 2.14 ERA).
Myers will be making his first appearance since he was sent down to Triple-A Syracuse about two weeks ago. Carlos Mendoza said he will probably throw about 40 pitches. Burns, the second overall pick of the 2024 draft, struck out eight Mets over 5 1/3 innings when he earned a win at Citi Field on May 26.
