The Syracuse Mets did not play today but at the remaining levels the Brooklyn Cyclones and St. Lucie Mets won their games in commanding fashion while the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and FCL Mets lost theirs in commanding fashion. The Cyclones seem like they may be beginning to turn an offensive corner while the Binghamton Rumble Ponies pitching has been struggling recently.
Double-A
Portland (23-22) 7, Binghamton (16-30) 3
Box Score
- 3B Jacob Reimer: 0-for-4, RBI
- C Chris Suero: 1-for-4, 2B, RBI, BB
- LF Eli Serrano III: 1-for-5
- 1B JT Schwartz: 1-for-3, HR, 2R, RBI, BB
The Rumble Ponies jumped out to an early lead thanks to a home run from JT Schwartz and a double from Chris Suero but from the fifth inning onwards only got two hits. They struck out fifteen times and failed to bring the free runner home in the tenth inning. Jacob Reimer went hitless today but has looked strong in May. Eli Serrano III has had a rough May but has looked good the week with seven hits in seven games.
- LHP Jonathan Santucci: 4.2 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
- LHP Max Green: 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- RHP Guillo Zuñiga: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
- RHP Saul Garcia: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
- LHP Jefry Yan: 1.0 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Jonathan Santucci had a good start with a 41% whiff rate and seven strikeouts. He showed better command of his pitches and despite walking two batters, overall attacked the zone. Santucci’s future success as a starter will rely on his control. It is also possible that his future may be in the bullpen, maybe even in a leverage role. A walk, stolen base, balk and then sacrifice fly from Zuñiga blew the lead and the Sea Dogs blew the game open in the tenth inning against Jefry Yan.
High-A
Brooklyn Cyclones (14-31) 6, Wilmington (24-21) 0
- SS Mitch Voit: 1-for-3, R, RBI, 2 BB
- LF John Bay: 1-for-4, HR, R, 2 RBI
The last three games have been the best offensive stretch for the Cyclones this year scoring twenty runs. John Bay continues to be the Cyclones strongest hitter and over the last week has a 1.008 OPS. Mitch Voit has had a very rocky month, but has hits in each of his last two games. Ronald Hernandez, who the Mets acquired in the trade that sent David Robertson to the Marlins, has an .867 OPS across the last week.
- RHP Daviel Hurtado: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- LHP Joe Jacques: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K (W)
- RHP Ryan Dollar: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
- RHP Garrett Stratton: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- RHP Cristofer Gomez: 1.0 IP , 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
For the second game in a row the Cyclones shut down the opposing team’s offense. Today they did that by attacking the zone. Every pitcher ran a strike percentage over 50%. All except Jacques ran a whiff rate 30% or higher. They only walked one batter and struck out ten. This was Daviel Hurtado’s first start in Brooklyn after pitching nine innings in St. Lucie.

Single-A
St. Lucie (21-25) 8, Bradenton (23-22) 2
- SS Elian Peña: 1-for-3, RBI, 2 BB
- 3B Antonio Jimenez: 1-for-1, 2 R, 3 BB, SB
- 1B Randy Guzman: 1-for-3
- 2B Jeremy Rodriguez: 1-for-4, R, BB, SB
While their defense was not sparkling, the St. Lucie Mets offense showed up in force today. Antonio Jimenez was recently demoted to Single-A after struggling in High-A but has hit the ground running so far. After struggling heavily for most of May, Elian Peña has looked better the last week hitting .274, though the power still has not shown up. Speaking of power, Randy Guzman has continued to excel slashing .444/.500/.556/1.056 over the last week. After playing well in the Florida Complex League Jeremy Rodriguez has struggled in his first few games in St. Lucie, similarly to his struggles in 2025. He is making very good contact but is not hitting the ball hard at all.
- RHP Jonathan Jimenez: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
- RHP Christian Rodriguez: 2.2 IP, 2 H,1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
- RHP Luis Alvarez: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 1 K
- RHP Miguel Mejias: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- RHP Joe Charles: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
The St. Lucie pitching did not give up a single earned run this game, striking out ten and walking three. Their pitchers attacked the zone and were not deterred by the rain delay mid game which required them to use many more pitchers than initially planned. Miguel Mejias ran an insane 100% whiff rate across 14 sliders in this game. The best pitch of the night was easily starter Jonathan Jimenez’s fastball, which comes at an incredible 18.1 inches of induced vertical break from a 33 degree arm angle. He only threw it twice to set up his other pitches, but if he can keep doing that it can be a plus pitch.
FCL Mets
FCL Astros (13-3) 4, FCL Mets (8-9) 1
- 2B Vladi Gomez: 0-for-2, SB
- SS Diover De Aza: 0-for-3, 3 K
- C Yovanny Rodriguez: 0-for-1, BB
- LF Justin Ramirez: 2-for-2, HR, 2B, R, RBI
Outside of Justin Ramirez the offense was quiet today. Ramirez had two extra base hits and was responsible for the team’s only run with his home run. The rest of the offense only got one hit and struck out eleven times.
- RHP Jose Lopez: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (L)
- RHP Franyel Diaz: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
- RHP Jun-Seok Shim: 1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
- RHP Yoralbert Cadiz: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
The pitching was let down by the defense but overall pitched fine. Outside of Diaz they did not generate much swing and miss while walking too many batters. Jun-Seok Shim, who came over from South Korea in 2023, has continued to struggle with his command.
