The Mets’ farm system has seen Nolan McLean (No. 1 in my preseason rankings), Carson Benge (No. 2) and A.J. Ewing (No. 4) graduate from prospects lists already this year. It’s also been a down year for a number of the Mets’ top-rated bats, but there has also been an emergence from a few lesser-known arms, and multiple lower-level hitters have performed well.

The Mets have seen top prospects miss significant time with injury this season, including: RHP Will Watson, INF Boston Baro, RHP Ryan Lambert, INF Jacob Reimer, INF Marco Vargas and OF Eli Serrano III.

I’m doing the Mets’ updated top 50 prospects now to get an idea of what the system looks like before David Stearns and company likely become very busy over the next few days. As you all know, the Mets have underperformed in 2026 and will be looking to sell before the August 3 MLB trade deadline. The big question becomes how many prospects the Mets are able to get in return, who will join this list when I redo it next week.

Stearns has his work cut out for him in the next few days to improve a farm system that is currently in the bottom third of the league. This trade deadline could be one of the most important of his career as he looks to get the organization back on track leading into a pivotal offseason.
