During the day on Thursday, New York Mets prospects Nick Morabito and Chris Suero were both selected to the Arizona Fall League Fall Stars game. You can watch that on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on MLB Network. On Thursday night, the duo helped the Scottsdale Scorpions to their league leading 19th win of the season.

Morabito, playing his customary cent fielder, reached base in all four of his plate appearances on Thursday as he continued an impressive AFL campaign. The 22-year-old went 3-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a stolen base. He’s hitting .377/.472/.492 with 14 stolen bases in 15 games for the Scorpions. His 13 steals are third in the league, and his 23 hits are tied for seventh. He’s making it look like a no-brainer that the Mets should add him to the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft in December.
Behind the plate on Thursday. Suero kept mashing as well. He went 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI and a run scored. The 21-year-old is slashing .286/.359/.571 with 14 RBIs and seven stolen bases (0 CS) in 14 games for Scottsdale. He has the second most home runs in the league at five behind only Esmerlyn Valdez‘s eight.
As a team on Thursday, the Scorpions had 11 hard hit balls with the duo of Morabito and Suero combined for five of them. All three of Morabito’s batted balls on Thursday were hard hit (at least 95 mph), with two of them being at least 105 mph off the bat. Suero, who hit a rare 42-degree launch angle/107.7 mph homer on Wednesday, had hits of 104.3 mph and 105.3 mph on Thursday. He also had the top bat speed on Thursday at 82.5 mph.
The Scorpions are in action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. ET on MLB dot com.
In winter ball action, Mets right-handed relief prospect Saul García tossed two perfect innings with a strikeout in the Venezuelan Winter League.
