It’s never dull during the Subway Series and the new kids in town are getting into the rivalry.
As Francisco Lindor rounded the bases on his second home run of the night on Sunday he made a whistleblowing gesture toward the Yankees dugout, a reference to the belief they were whistling to tip batters off to Saturday’s starting pitcher Taijuan Walker‘s pitches.
ESPN reporter Marly Rivera spoke to Jonathan Villar about a mound visit that took place in the second inning of Saturday’s contest. He relayed to her how he thought Taijuan Walker was tipping pitches when the Yankees took a 5-0 lead. Supposedly he realized during an Aaron Judge at-bat the Yankees were using different whistles to identify the pitch.
Walker allowed five runs in the second inning, surrendering three home runs. Kyle Higashioka and Brett Gardner each hit two-run shots while Judge hit a solo shot.
After the mound visit, Walker retired the next 13 Yankee batters.
So when Lindor put the Mets up 6-4, he wasn’t afraid to let his feelings known.
After Francisco Lindor hit his second HR, he made a whistle gesture to the Yankees' dugout.
Giancarlo Stanton took exception to that and chirped back at him.

“I felt like there was something out of the ordinary going on,” Lindor said. “I heard what I heard. I’m not accusing them, I’m not saying they’re doing it 100% because I don’t know, but it definitely felt that way. And I took that personal.”
A half-inning later, Giancarlo Stanton would tie the game with a two-run homer of his own. He made sure to pause during his home trot and give Lindor a piece of his mind. Benches cleared as Stanton retreated to the dugout.

Each bench would receive a warning and players would go back to their side. No ejections were made.
Lindor came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. He homered for a third time, giving the Mets the lead and win 7-6.
