2012: Matt Harvey set a Mets record for strikeouts in a major league debut, which was  previously established and shared by Tom Seaver and Bill Denehy with nine. Harvey struck out 11 batters in the team’s 3-1 victory over Arizona at Chase Field. In his 5.1 innings on the mound, the rookie right-hander gave up three hits, while collecting two hits.
