The New York Mets announced the team has traded outfielder Billy McKinney to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The return for McKinney is cash considerations and minor league outfielder Carlos Rincon. McKinney was acquired from the Brewers on May 26th after he was designated for assignment by Milwaukee. The Mets sent minor-league pitcher Pedro Quintana to the Brewers in that deal.
McKinney was acquired out of necessity with Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo missing time with injury. His final slash line with the team is .220/.304/.473 while contributing five home runs and driving in 14. McKinney also played a very good outfield with New York defensively. However, toward the end of his tenure, his play did begin to falter. McKinney endured a 15 at-bat hitless streak and over his last 36-at bats had five hits (.138 AVG).
Rincon is having a nice season in Double-A. With Tulsa, Rincon is slashing .263/.343/.470 with 12 home runs and 48 runs batted in. Rincon is 23-years old with a career slash line in the minors of .244/.326/.343. He has yet to play above Double-A. He will report to Double-A Binghamton with the Mets.
