Mets second-round pick Calvin Ziegler has signed to a “slightly” below-slot deal but details are still unknown. The slot for the 46th pick is $1,620,000. Ziegler, a right-handed pitcher out of Canada, was ranked No. 123 in the MLB Pipeline rankings.
The righty was committed to play at Auburn and was ranked as the top Canadian prospect heading into the draft. Check out Joesph Langan’s writeup on Ziegler over at MetsMinors.net.
After a win in Monday’s series opener, the Mets will play Game 2 against the Reds at Great American Ballpark on Tuesday night. It will be Robert Stock taking the mound for the Mets as they face off against Cincinnati lefty Wade Miley (7-4, 2.80 ERA).
First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m., will be broadcast on WCBS 880 and WQBU 92.7 and will be televised on SNY.

Mets 15th-round selection Wyatt Young has agreed to a $125,000 deal, per Christian Shimabuku of KHON in Honolulu. The deal includes an additional $75,000 for an extra year of schooling. Young, a shortstop out of Pepperdine, finished with a .332 batting average in his final season with the Waves.
Mets Double-A lefty Josh Walker has been promoted to Triple-A Syracuse, per Jacob Resnick of SNY. In Binghamton, Walker has posted a 2.64 ERA in eight appearances for the Rumble Ponies. High-A right-hander Jose Butto will be promoted to Double-A to take his place.
The Mets have launched their new podcast, “Mets in the Morning” hosted by Josh Lewin. The podcast will air every weekday for the remainder of the 2021 regular season. Fans can listen to podcast’s premiere on Spotify.

Per Craig Mish of the Miami Herald, the Marlins have placed Jazz Chisholm and Garrett Cooper to the 10-day injured list. Both players left Sunday’s game against the Phillies with Chisholm sustaining a left shoulder contusion and Cooper suffering a left elbow sprain.
The Red Sox have placed Christian Arroyo on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring strain he suffered against the Yankees on Sunday. As a result, Boston has activated Danny Santana from the team’s 10-day injured list.
