In a pre-game press conference Sunday, Luis Rojas confirmed Jacob deGrom will start Tuesday’s game against the Rockies, as was speculated after he got through a rehab start clean this week.

The Mets also announced Sunday that Kevin Pillar had successful surgery to repair the multiple fractures in his nose stemming from being hit by a pitch on Monday.

Pillar had the surgery Friday, and the team said he could begin “light activities” by Monday.

The center fielder seemed to avoid the worst possible outcomes by being hit with a 95 mile-per-hour fastball directly in the face. Battered, Pillar spoke at a press conference the next day, and he’s provided updates with how he’s felt on Instagram on Twitter throughout the week.

Pillar was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday along with Taijuan Walker. They were the 13th and 14th Mets players placed on the IL currently, joined a couple days later by Pete Alonso and Tommy Hunter.

Walker also provided an update Sunday, noting that he hopes his time on the IL is short, but he wants to make sure he is completely pain free before pitching again.

He believes there was something wrong with his mechanics that caused the tightness (similar to what deGrom said about his tightness), and he thinks he’s cleaned it up. He will also likely have a rehab start before coming back to make sure the tightness is no longer there in game action.

Rojas also said J.D. Davis has a stuff neck, which is why he wasn’t in Sunday’s Syracuse lineup. He’ll have to play a couple more healthy rehab games before returning to the Mets, the manager said.

Speaking of Syracuse, the Mets are also talking about moving Noah Syndergaard’s rehab to Triple-A–a positive updates on his health following his first rehab start in St. Lucie this week.

Lastly, José Peraza is still feeling “tightness” in his leg after being hit by a pitch Friday, so he remains out of the lineup for now.
